Aim :
I want to find out how we taste food.
Research :
The 5 main flavour Sweet, salty, sour, savoury and bitter. The back is very sensitive to bitter and the sides are sensitive. A average person has 10,000 taste buds, a older person has 5,000 taste buds

Method
Equipment :
- Blind fold
- Unknown food
- A person with a tongue
Instructions :
- Get your equipment
- Put your blind fold on
- Block your nose
- Put the food in your mouth
- Describe how it taste
- Unblock your nose and describe the taste
Results :
Food #1
When I ate the food, it felt crunchy, wet and sweet, it tasted like an apple
Food#2
When I ate the food, it felt crunchy, salty and bitter. I think it is a onion
Food#3
When I ate the food, if felt crunchy, but I didn't taste like anything. I think it was a potato
Food#4
When I ate the food, it was soft and sweet. I think it was a gummy.
Food#5
When I ate the food, It was soft and little sour. I think it was a sour gummy
Powder#1
When I ate the powder, It was sweet. I think it was sugar
Powder#2
When i ate the powder, it was salty. I think it was salt
Powder#3
When I ate the powder, it was salty. I think it was baking soda
Powder#4
When I ate the powder, it tasted salty and sour. I think it was citric acid
Powder#5
When I ate the powder, I tasted salty, sour and sweet. It tasted like sherbet
Conclusion :
I learnt that different parts of the tongue reacts differently to the food/powder. I also learnt that blocking you nose doesn't help with tasting.
Discussion :
When i ate the citric acid the sides of my tongue felt sore.
